Moroccan authorities are continuing the gradual evacuation of residents in areas at risk of flooding, as part of preventive measures to ensure the safety of citizens.
The Ministry of Interior said that, as of Thursday morning, more than 143,000 people had been evacuated across several provinces. The operations follow a plan that takes into account levels of risk and potential damage, using all available logistical resources to transport residents safely.
The largest number of evacuees was recorded in Larache province, with 110,941 people, followed by 16,914 in Kenitra, 11,696 in Sidi Kacem, and 3,613 in Sidi Slimane.
These measures are part of ongoing government efforts to respond to climate fluctuations and prevent potential risks to residents’ lives.
