French Official Reiterates his Country's Willingness to Further Host Moroccan Investors

French Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade and Attractiveness, Franck Riester, reiterated on Tuesday in Rabat his country's willingness to further host Moroccan investors.

"I stress France's willingness to further host Moroccan investors in France, as it is currently considered the most attractive country in Europe in terms of investment," said Riester at a press conference.

France welcomed between 2019 and 2020 the largest number of foreign investment projects, ahead of Germany and Great Britain, in line with a great economic dynamic, thanks to the transformation operated by the French president, Emmanuel Macron, in 2017 and the strategy put in place during the crisis to protect the French economy and ensure a strong post-pandemic recovery, focused particularly on competitiveness, pointed out Riester.

"This is the time to invest in France and choose France for investment in Europe," said Riester, adding that business owners and French investors "are required to work with their Moroccan counterparts in numerous partnerships for the future in various areas."

The French minister underlined that at a time when France and Europe are thinking about their "strategic autonomy", it is necessary to "rethink" the supply and value chains and make sure to diversify suppliers by relocating part of them from a remote region of Europe and to countries nearby, in this case, Morocco which has a "fairly crucial" role to play.

"We have been able to build very productive win-win partnerships in the automotive and aerospace sectors and it would be wise to look at other sectors, such as renewable energy, including wind, solar energy or hydrogen, in addition to the transport and agribusiness sectors which are already subject of several successful partnerships," noted the French minister.
