Morocco-Spain Economic Council Holds GA

The General Assembly of the Moroccan-Spanish Economic Council (French acronym CEMAES) was held Thursday in Casablanca, with the participation of Morocco's Ambassador in Madrid, Karima Benyaich, and her Spanish counterpart in Rabat, Ricardo Diez-Hochleitner Rodriguez.

Speaking by video conference, Benyaich said that this meeting is part of a very ambitious new era started between the two countries and comes at a crucial time when a new stage begins, in the context of mutual respect.

Spain is the first trading partner of the Kingdom, the diplomat went on, noting that trade between the two neighboring countries has doubled over the past ten years, which is "a true testimony to the win-win spirit that characterizes our bilateral relations."

She also stressed that Moroccan and Spanish businessmen can take advantage of this new stage between the two countries, highlighting the favorable business climate in Morocco which is a real pole of attraction for foreign investors.

For his part, Diez-Hochleitner Rodriguez said he was pleased with the launch of a new stage in relations between Morocco and Spain, which will give a strong impetus to economic and trade relations.

Highlighting the economic convergence between Morocco and Spain, he called for capitalizing on these assets to boost economic cooperation between the two countries.

The resilience of Morocco's and Spain's economies is now more important than ever to face the new challenges related to technological transformation and climate change as well as geopolitical tensions, the Spanish diplomat stressed.

Created at the initiative of the General Confederation of Moroccan Business (CGEM) and the Spanish Confederation of Employers' Organizations (CEOE), CEMAES is a business council that brings together entrepreneurs and economic organizations of Morocco and Spain wishing to develop a common economic space.
