King Mohammed VI: Morocco Will Continue Localizing Military Industry Until Full Defense Autonomy Is Achieved

King Mohammed VI affirmed on Wednesday that Morocco will continue supporting programs aimed at localizing military industries in order to achieve full autonomy in the defense sector. The statement came in the “Daily Order” addressed to members of the Royal Armed Forces on the occasion of the 69th anniversary of their founding, in his capacity as Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces.

According to the text of the “Daily Order” released by the high command, King Mohammed VI reaffirmed his determination to continue supporting this strategic national endeavor, noting that the state has worked to provide all the necessary legal, logistical, and procedural frameworks to attract Moroccan and foreign investors and partners, in a way that ensures the establishment of an integrated national defense industry.

The Moroccan monarch emphasized that the localization of military industries is no longer a temporary choice, but rather a strategic path embedded in a forward-looking vision aimed at strengthening the Kingdom’s defense sovereignty and reducing dependence on foreign sources for armaments and military equipment.

The King, according to the text, also stressed the importance of the human element in the success of this initiative, affirming that providing soldiers with proper working conditions and well-equipped facilities within barracks and training centers is one of the keys to achieving the effectiveness and efficiency required for the optimal use of modern defense systems.

The “Daily Order” also highlighted the growing role of the Royal Armed Forces in humanitarian response and disaster management, through rescue operations, relief efforts, and the provision of medical services—actions that always reflect careful planning and effectiveness, under the King’s directives.

King Mohammed VI also praised the achievements made through the military service program, describing it as an important national initiative that allows Moroccan youth—both men and women—to receive training and skills development in various fields, enabling them to enter the job market and serve their country with competence and dedication.

On the international level, the King commended the participation of the Royal Armed Forces in peacekeeping missions, particularly in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Central African Republic, highlighting Morocco’s reputation as a trusted partner in promoting global peace and stability under the United Nations umbrella.

King Mohammed VI stressed that the rapidly evolving security challenges—both regional and global—require the Armed Forces to further develop their capacities and enhance training programs by updating military education curricula and providing modern equipment.

He also noted that attention to the defense sector must also include social and medical services for military personnel and their families, ensuring dignity, protection, and full support for those serving under the nation’s banner.

The King concluded by calling on all members of the Armed Forces to preserve the achievements made so far, and to remain steadfast in their loyalty and willingness to make the highest sacrifices.
