Strengthening the exemplary partnership between Morocco and the African Development Bank (AfDB) was the focus of a meeting between the Minister of Economy and Finance, Nadia Fettah, and the President of this financial institution, Akinwumi Adesina, on the sidelines of the Bank's Annual Meetings being held in Sharm El-Sheikh.
During the meeting, the two officials stressed the importance of supporting the Kingdom's development efforts, particularly in the infrastructure, renewable energies and investment promotion sectors.
They also reviewed the main areas of cooperation between Morocco and the AfDB Group.
Fettah, who led a Moroccan delegation, took part in the opening ceremony of the AfDB Annual Meetings, attended by African heads of state and representatives of regional and international financial institutions.
In her capacity as AfDB Governor for Morocco, she took part in this year's Governors' Dialogue, which focuses on the current transformation of the international financial architecture and how this may affect the essential role of multilateral development institutions.
This edition of the meetings, organized under the theme "Mobilizing private sector financing for climate and green growth in Africa", is an opportunity for AfDB Group Governors to reflect on how to more robustly mobilize the private investment Africa needs to meet its urgent climate change adaptation and mitigation goals.
The overall theme of this year's event reflects the growing urgency expressed by African leaders for a marked acceleration in efforts to limit temperature rise to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels by 2100.
