Morocco Increases Ferry Capacity for Summer Travel Surge

Morocco has increased maritime passenger transport capacity between its ports and Southern Europe for the 2025 summer travel season, as part of the annual Marhaba Operation supporting Moroccan nationals living abroad, the Ministry of Transport and Logistics said on Friday.

A total of 29 vessels will operate across 12 shipping routes, offering up to 520 weekly crossings with a combined weekly capacity of 500,000 passengers and 130,000 vehicles, the ministry pointed out in a press release.

Authorities have renewed the requirement for passengers to pre-book ferry tickets with fixed dates and times, particularly for high-traffic routes such as Tangier Med–Algeciras and Tangier Ville–Tarifa.

The ministry urged travelers to plan ahead and book tickets in advance to reduce congestion and delays, especially during peak return travel in late August.

The operation is organized under the high patronage of King Mohammed VI and coordinated with multiple government agencies to improve onboard services and port logistics.
