Morocco Joins Global AI Impact Summit in New Delhi Amid Push for Inclusive Governance

Morocco has joined the Global Artificial Intelligence (AI) Impact Summit, inaugurated on Thursday in New Delhi by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen international cooperation in digital transformation and innovation.

The Kingdom is represented by a high-level delegation led by Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, accompanied by Morocco’s Ambassador to India Mohamed Maliki.

Organized under the theme “Welfare for All, Happiness for All,” the summit aims to serve as a global platform for dialogue on the future of artificial intelligence and the governance challenges associated with its rapid expansion. A central objective of the gathering is to better integrate the priorities and concerns of countries from the Global South into emerging AI regulatory frameworks.

The event has drawn more than 100 government representatives, including over 20 heads of state and government and around 60 ministers and deputy ministers. Also in attendance is United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, alongside approximately 500 global AI leaders, academics, and researchers.

Prominent figures from the technology sector addressed the opening session, including OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, as well as French President Emmanuel Macron.

Morocco’s participation aligns with the High Guidelines of King Mohammed VI to enhance South-South cooperation and expand partnerships in innovation and digital technologies to support inclusive and sustainable development.

Beyond the opening ceremony, Seghrouchni took part in several conference sessions, following discussions on global AI trends, governance models, and technological innovation. She also held meetings with international officials and experts to explore potential cooperation opportunities in digital transformation and AI-driven development.

The summit underscores growing global recognition that artificial intelligence governance is becoming a strategic geopolitical issue, with emerging economies increasingly seeking a voice in shaping international standards and ensuring equitable technological advancement.
