Morocco's Health Ministry Warns Against New Covid-19 Wave

A new Covid-19 wave remains probable, despite the progress made within the framework of the national vaccination campaign, said on Monday the Moroccan Ministry of Health and of Social Protection.

A further increase in cases remains possible, despite the remarkable improvement in the epidemiological situation in terms of all epidemiological indicators, which led to the easing of precautionary measures (night curfew from 11 p.m. instead of 9 p.m.), the resumption of all economic and social activities, as well as the progress made as part of the national vaccination campaign, the ministry said in a statement.

The ministry notes that a further rise in Covid-19 cases remains probable, stressing the need to avoid a possible relapse of serious and critical cases and Covid-19-related deaths, which have occurred in several European countries.

The ministry also urges citizens to get more involved in the effort to continue improving the epidemiological situation, through three basic rules, namely: taking part in the Covid-19 national vaccination campaign, taking doses of vaccine in order to avoid serious and critical cases, as well as compliance with preventive and precautionary measures (wearing mask, hygiene rules, use of hydroalcoholic gels, physical distancing, etc.).

Compliance with all these basic rules as well as the national treatment protocol remain the only way to live with this virus and ensure the improvement of the epidemiological situation, while avoiding a further increase in cases in this period marked by the resumption of school and university classes and the easing of precautionary measures, the source points out.
