On the occasion of the Independence Manifesto Day, celebrated on January 11, King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, pardoned 1,304 individuals sentenced by various courts of the Kingdom, the Justice Ministry announced in a statement.
The detained beneficiaries of the pardon are 948:
- 33 inmates benefited from the pardon over their remaining prison sentences.
- 915 prisoners had their prison terms reduced.
The free beneficiaries of the pardon are 356:
- 62 individuals benefited from pardon over their imprisonment term or their remaining prison sentences.
- 15 individuals benefited from pardon over their imprisonment terms while their fines were maintained.
- 260 individuals had their fines annulled.
- 19 individuals benefited from pardon over their prison terms and fines.
Royal pardon is customary in Morocco to mark national and religious holidays.
