Royal Moroccan Navy to take part in ‘Phoenix Express 2022’ exercise in Tunisia

The Royal Moroccan Navy unite will be among the participants in the multilateral maritime exercise 'Phoenix Express 2022' in its seventeenth edition, which will be hosted by Tunisia from May 21 to June 04.

The exercise that will kick off its activities tomorrow, will witness the participants from Thirteen countries, Tunisia, The United States, Morocco, Algeria, Mauritania, Libya, Egypt, Spain, Italy, France, Great Britain, Greece, and Malta.

According to a statement issued by the Tunisian Ministry of Defense, The participants' countries will be represented by naval and air units, marine vanguard teams, components, and observers. Several international organizations, such as the United Nations Office against Drugs and Crime and the European Agency for the Control of Fisheries, are also involved.

The same source said that this exercise aims to strengthen cooperation and coordination between the participating navies in order to preserve the security and stability of the Mediterranean, train personnel, develop their capabilities, make good use of systems and equipment, develop their skills, and coordinate to confront illegal acts at sea, especially maritime terrorism and arms and drug smuggling.
