Spanish Ministry of Interior announced on Friday that the police arrested a “Jihadist” in Mataro (Barcelona), saying that he is of Moroccan origin and came to Spain from Syria.
According to Europa Press, the arrested Jihadist is trained for fights, and he was a member of what they were called “the foreign fighters” whom they had entered the Syrian borders to join the Jihadist groups.
The same source added that the arrest operation came after several investigations from Spanish police in coordination with other international security devices such as Morocco’s intelligence “DGST”, Europol, and the FBI.
Concurrently with this arrest, another operation arrest was done in Austria, where the security forces detained a “Jihadist” of Moroccan origin, in a joint operation, Europa Press said quoting a statement from the Spanish Minister of Interior.
Worth mentioning that this is not the first time Spain arrests a “Jihadist” in coordination with Moroccan intelligence, as several previous arrest cases Spain had announced were also in cooperation with Morocco.
