To achieve herd immunity quickly: Morocco urges its unvaccinated citizens to take 1st dose

The Moroccan Ministry of Health and Social Protection on Saturday urged non-vaccinated people to go to the nearest vaccination center, calling on the elderly to strengthen their immunity with a third dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

"In order to speed up the progress of the Covid-19 national vaccination campaign and to achieve collective immunity and after noting the delay experienced by some citizens in having their two doses administered, the ministry of Health and Social Protection urges all target categories, aged 12 years and older, to join this operation and go to the nearest vaccination center to take their first or second doses without preconditions related to their residence," the ministry said in a statement.

The ministry also called on all citizens who have received the second dose at least 6 months ago, particularly the elderly and those suffering from chronic diseases, to take a third dose to strengthen their immunity against Covid-19 and avoid any possible complication in case of infection.

The department underlined the need to take part in the Covid-19 national vaccination campaign and to comply with the instructions and precautionay measures issued by health authorities before, during and after vaccination, in order to curb the spread of the pandemic, the statement concluded.
