Morocco’s Minister Delegate in charge of the Budget and President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, Fouzi Lekjaa, on Tuesday highlighted the Kingdom’s experience in hosting major sporting events as a cornerstone for the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking at the Morocco–Spain–Portugal Business Forum on the 2030 World Cup in Salé, Lekjaa pointed to Morocco’s successful organization of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), describing it as a demonstration of the country’s organizational maturity, the competence of its national human resources, and the ability of Moroccan companies to manage complex international tournaments.
“This experience proves that Moroccan companies, from large infrastructure firms to smaller operational service providers, can deliver high-quality events efficiently and sustainably,” Lekjaa said.
He emphasized that lessons learned from AFCON — including logistics, security coordination, and large-scale event management — will be essential to ensure the smooth and exemplary organization of the 2030 World Cup, which Morocco will co-host with Spain and Portugal.
According to Lekjaa, the 2030 World Cup is not only a sporting event but a strategic, unifying project that can foster cooperation, innovation, and economic development across the three co-hosting nations.
