Two Moroccan Skiers Qualify for Beijing's Winter Olympics

Moroccan skiers Abderrahim Kemmissa and Yassine Aouich have booked their place in the 24th edition of Winter Olympics, scheduled from February 4 to 20 in Beijing.

According to a statement from the Royal Moroccan Federation of Skiing and Mountain Sports (FRMSSM), Kemmissa has qualified for this edition after achieving the required points at the end of cross-country skiing events held under the auspices of the Moroccan federation and the International Ski Federation.

For his part, Yassine Aouich, a native of Ifrane, qualified for the first time in his career to the tournament thanks to the points he obtained in the events of alpine skiing, the statement says.

Abderrahim Kemmissa, from Oukaïmeden, participated last year in several races, including international competitions of cross-country skiing, held in Kazakhstan's Shuchinsk (13-15 November), Italy's St. Catherine Valfurva (25-28 November), France's Bessans (10-12 December) and Turkey's Kandilli/Erzurum (24-26 December).

Yassine Aouich, on the other hand, took part in several similar competitions in alpine skiing (giant slalom), in particular those held in the United Arab Emirates (November 15-21), Madrid (November 26-December 2), Jahorina, Bosnia and Herzegovina (December 13-12), Kolassan, Montenegro (December 20-30) and Malbun, Liechtenstein (January 11-13, 2022).
