Indian Tourist Arrivals to Morocco Rise 31% in 2025

Indian tourist arrivals to Morocco increased by 31 percent in 2025 compared to 2024, reflecting the Kingdom’s growing appeal within the Indian outbound travel market and the accelerating momentum of Morocco as a preferred destination in Asia.

These positive indicators were highlighted during a professional meeting organized Thursday evening in Mumbai by the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT), on the sidelines of the 2026 edition of the international travel fair Outbound Travel Market. The event served as a platform to showcase Morocco’s diverse tourism assets and to foster partnerships between Moroccan and Indian tourism professionals, with the aim of strengthening the Kingdom’s presence in the Asian market and promoting mutually beneficial cooperation.

Speaking at the gathering, Morocco’s Ambassador to New Delhi, Mohamed Maliki, underlined the steady rise in Indian visitor numbers to the Kingdom, noting a 224 percent increase compared to 2019 levels. Despite this strong performance, the ambassador stressed that the results remain below the full potential offered by India’s vast and promising travel market, expressing confidence that the upward trend in tourist flows will continue in the coming years.

Maliki described Morocco as a destination in constant renewal, capable of offering a unique and diverse travel experience. He emphasized the cultural and natural richness of the country’s various regions, which contributes to a high rate of repeat visitors, many of whom say they feel “at home” in Morocco.

The ambassador also pointed to Morocco’s growing attractiveness as an international film destination, hosting numerous global productions, including Indian projects, thanks to its varied landscapes and quality infrastructure.

During the event, the ONMT presented an immersive and comprehensive tourism offer, highlighting Morocco’s rich cultural heritage, historic medinas, and diverse natural scenery — from desert dunes and Atlantic and Mediterranean coastlines to the Atlas Mountains. The presentation also focused on adventure and exploration experiences, as well as a wide range of accommodation options and tailor-made travel services.

More than 200 tourism professionals, hosted buyers, and specialized media representatives attended the meeting. Guests were invited to discover Moroccan culture through artistic and traditional performances, including Gnawa music rhythms, Moroccan tea ceremonies, calligraphy and henna art demonstrations, and a showcase of the Moroccan caftan as a symbol of refined craftsmanship and living heritage.

On the occasion of the fair, which runs until Saturday, the ONMT set up a 200-square-meter pavilion serving as a prominent showcase for the Moroccan destination, with the participation of nine Moroccan travel agencies.

The 2026 edition of the Outbound Travel Market features over 2,100 exhibitors representing more than 60 countries and is expected to attract upwards of 50,000 professional visitors, confirming its status as a strategic gateway to India’s outbound tourism market. Industry data indicates that Indian travelers spent $31.7 billion abroad in 2024, with annual outbound trips projected to reach between 80 and 90 million, positioning India as the largest source market for tourists in the Asia-Pacific region.
