Morocco’s Tourism Revenues Hit Record High in 2025

Morocco’s tourism sector reached an unprecedented level in 2025, generating foreign-currency revenues of 138 billion dirhams (around $13.7 billion) by the end of December, the Ministry of Tourism said, marking a 21% increase compared to 2024.

In an official statement, the ministry said the performance was particularly significant as it surpassed, well ahead of schedule, the target of 120 billion dirhams set under the national tourism roadmap for 2026. The results, it added, confirm the qualitative shift underway in Morocco’s tourism industry.

The ministry attributed the strong performance to Morocco’s growing appeal in international markets, supported by a historic record of nearly 20 million tourist arrivals in 2025, alongside a diversification of tourism offerings across the country.

Domestic tourism also continued to play a key role in sustaining the sector, with spending by Moroccan residents estimated at around 48 billion dirhams in 2025, underlining the strong contribution of local travelers to overall tourism growth.

Commenting on the figures, Tourism Minister Fatim-Zahra Ammor said the record revenues demonstrate that Morocco’s tourism sector is not only expanding in visitor numbers, but also generating higher added value.

“This record confirms that tourism in Morocco is not growing solely in terms of arrivals, but is also creating greater economic value,” Ammor said. “Our ambition is to make tourism a driver of regional development and a sustainable engine for job creation.”

Morocco has stepped up investment in tourism infrastructure, air connectivity, and destination branding in recent years, as part of broader efforts to position the country as a leading travel hub in Africa and the Mediterranean.
