South African women's football team was crowned African champion after its 2-1 (half-time 0-0) victory over its Moroccan counterpart, Saturday night in the final game of the Africa Cup of Nations -WAFCON (Morocco-2022), played at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat.
Hildah Magaia scored both goals for South Africa (63th, 71st), while Rosella Ayane reduced the gap for the national team in the 80th minute.
In the semi-final, Morocco eliminated Nigeria, eleven times African champion, while South Africa secured its spot in the final at the expense of Zambia.
