New cases of UK Coronavirus strain detected in Morocco

Morocco has detected 21 cases of the UK Coronavirus strain, increasing the total number of this strain to 24 in the country, the Ministry of Health said on Saturday in a statement.

“The Laboratory Consortium, which is specialized in identifying the new Coronavirus strains within the country, announced the detection of new 21 cases of UK Coronavirus strain,” the statement said.

The Ministry of Health pointed out in its statement that Morocco had detected 3 cases before, and all of the 24 cases that have been recorded in the country so far are belong to the UK strain, adding that no case of other strains detected in the country until now.

The Ministry of Health called the Moroccan citizens to take all the precautions, pointing out that the vaccination campaign is underway and the herd immunity is not achieved yet.

The number of people who were vaccinated in Morocco until Feb. 20 at 06 p.m. is 2.447.716, and to achieve herd immunity, the country must vaccinate more than 30 million.
