Iran expresses desire to restore ties with Morocco

Iran has expressed its desire to restore ties with Morocco after the relations were severed between the two countries in 2018.

According to Anadolu agency Iran's Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, said on Thursday that the Islamic Republic welcomes the resumption and expansion of ties with Egypt and Morocco.

Speaking at an event in Tehran to mark Eid Al-Adha in the presence of foreign diplomats, Iran's top diplomat said that "We welcome the expansion and normalization of relations with other regional and Muslim countries, including Egypt and Morocco".

Morocco severed ties with Iran in May 2018 over what Rabat said that Tehran supports Polisario Front and its theory of separating the Moroccan Sahara. However, Iran has repeatedly denied that.
