El Pais: Major Spanish Hotel Groups Strengthen Their Presence in Morocco Taking Advantage of its Tourism Boom

Several major Spanish hotel groups are endeavoring to strengthen their presence in Morocco to take advantage of the country's tourism boom, which broke records in 2023, according to the Spanish daily "El Pais".

These major Iberian hotels - Barceló, Riu, Iberostar and Meliá - have opted for Morocco with a view to expanding their activities and taking advantage of the tourism boom in the Kingdom, stresses the paper in an online article, adding that these four companies, which already have 18 hotel facilities in Morocco, intend to continue their expansion in this market.

Morocco stands out as a stable destination, both politically and socially compared with other countries in the region, the same source notes, adding that in the first 11 months of 2023, the country received 13.2 million tourists, exceeding the figures recorded for the whole of 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic, when it received 12.9 million travelers.

According to the Spanish media, these figures make Morocco a highly attractive investment market, with increasing growth potential for hotel companies.
