Over 1.700 new cases of Coronavirus in Morocco

Morocco has recorded 1,777 new cases of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) over the past 24 hours while 2,134 Covid-19 patients have recovered in the same period, the Ministry of Health said on Friday.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in the country rises to 440,970, while the number of cured people increases to 409,638, the ministry pointed out in its daily update, adding that the recovery rate has reached 92.9%.

A total of 37 coronavirus-related deaths were registered in the past day, taking the death toll to 7,425, the source pointed out, adding that the fatality rate stands at 1.7%.

These fatalities were reported in the regions of Casablanca-Settat (17), Beni-Mellal-Khenifra (3), Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (2), Marrakech-Safi (5), Fez-Meknes (2), the Oriental (2), Souss-Massa (4), Rabat-Sale-Kenitra (1) and Draa-Tafilalet (1).

The new Covid-19 cases were recorded in the regions of Casablanca-Settat (686), Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (309), Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (176), Souss-Massa (149), Marrakech-Safi (143), the Oriental (95), Fez-Meknes (58), Beni Mellal-Khenifra (53), Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra (35), Draa-Tafilalet (40), Guelmim-Oued Noun (15) and Dakhla-Oued Eddahab (18). The total number of excluded cases following negative tests rises to 4,032,734 since the start of the outbreak, including 14,578 in the past day.

The number of active cases has reached 23,907, including 1,093 patients in a critical or severe condition, the ministry added.
