Spanish Magazine: Dakhla, Morocco’s New Gem of Adventure Tourism

The region of Dakhla, known as “the pearl of southern Morocco,” has become the new hotspot for adventure tourism and sports leisure, the Spanish travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler writes on Thursday.

In an article titled “Dakhla, the Kitesurfing Paradise,” the Spanish publication highlights this city located on a narrow peninsula along Morocco’s Atlantic coast near the edge of the Sahara as the “ideal destination” for water sports enthusiasts.

The magazine notes that Dakhla’s crystal-clear lagoon, perpetually swept by steady winds, provides ideal conditions for year-round water sports such as kitesurfing, windsurfing, and surfing.

Dakhla attracts water sports lovers from around the world, both professionals and amateurs eager to discover this emerging tourist destination undergoing a dynamic transformation, the article adds.

Condé Nast Traveler also emphasizes the growing interest of tourism investors in the region, noting that Dakhla is experiencing a significant boom in the hotel and commercial sectors, as evidenced by the numerous projects launched there each year.

One of Dakhla’s strongest assets is its climate, with mild temperatures in both spring and summer thanks to the steady winds that blow nearly 300 days a year, providing a refreshing sensation even on the hottest days, the magazine concludes.
