U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has reaffirmed Washington’s strong ties with Morocco, emphasizing the joint leadership of President Donald Trump and King Mohammed VI in advancing a shared vision of peace and prosperity.
In a statement issued Wednesday to mark the 26th anniversary of King Mohammed VI’s ascension to the throne, Rubio praised the Moroccan monarch’s leadership, saying it has been instrumental in fostering stability and progress in the region.
"Under President Trump's and His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s leadership, we will continue to build a new era of peace and prosperity in the years ahead," Rubio declared.
The U.S. official also extended warm greetings to the Moroccan people and their sovereign on behalf of the United States. “As one of our nation’s oldest and closest friends, we value our enduring partnership with Morocco in advancing peace and security,” he added.
Rubio’s remarks underscore the continued strategic alignment between Rabat and Washington, particularly in areas such as regional stability, counterterrorism, and economic cooperation. His statement also reflects the growing importance of Morocco as a key U.S. ally in North Africa.
The message came amid celebrations in Morocco marking over two decades of King Mohammed VI’s reign, a period often noted for its modernization efforts and diplomatic engagement across Africa, the Middle East, and beyond.
The renewed U.S. commitment signals a desire to further cement ties with Morocco, especially as global challenges demand deeper cooperation between allies.
