“We’ll Give Everything for Morocco”: Ouahbi and Atlas Cubs Ready to Fight for U-20 World Title

Morocco’s U-20 national team coach Mohamed Ouahbi said on Saturday that “there’s no such thing as an unbeatable team,” stressing that his side will give everything to win the world title in Sunday night’s final against Argentina.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of the match at Santiago’s National Stadium, Ouahbi said Argentina “has many strengths, especially tactical ones, in addition to its energy in midfield,” adding that “they’re aiming to win the title, and so are we.”

The Moroccan coach said his players are fully focused on the final, noting that the technical staff has been working on their mental readiness by reminding them to stay calm on the pitch and to build on both their individual and collective strengths.

Ouahbi said Morocco will try to “make things difficult for their opponents” by sticking to a style of play the players are comfortable with. He added that post-semifinal preparations focused on physical recovery and tactical refinement.

“Finals have their own characteristics and are often decided by small details,” he said, stressing that the Atlas Cubs understand the magnitude of the challenge and that it will be up to them to make the difference on the field.

Regarding forward Yassine Gessime’s fitness, Ouahbi confirmed that he has recovered well following his outstanding performance against France, adding that all players are ready to face Argentina with a winning mindset and the determination to bring home the world title.

He said the team’s performances “reflect the tremendous support we receive from Moroccan fans,” adding that the two special charter flights arranged to bring supporters to Chile provide a major morale boost.

“The players feel immense pride in representing the Moroccan nation and are driven by an irresistible desire to fly the national flag high at this global tournament,” he said.

Team captain Hossam Essadak said “the dream of this generation is to bring joy to the Moroccan people,” adding that the Atlas Cubs’ results “are no coincidence but rather the outcome of hard work by the technical staff.”

He said the World Cup final “will come down to details,” noting that every player is capable of making a difference at any moment.

Essadak said the team’s victories over strong opponents throughout the tournament “reflect the great progress of Moroccan football, thanks to the High Solicitude of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and the continued support of the president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.”

He added that while Argentina remains a strong and experienced opponent, “we’ll play our own game and do everything we can to win the title.”

Earlier in the day, FIFA announced that Italian referee Maurizio Mariani will officiate the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup final between Morocco and Argentina.
