Morocco’s airports have witnessed a strong rebound in activity, with the total number of passengers reaching 23.9 million during the first eight months of 2025, marking an 11.7% increase compared to the same period last year, according to data released by the Ministry of Economy.
The Financial Studies and Forecasts Directorate (DEPF) of the ministry attributed this performance to the steady growth in both international and domestic air traffic, reflecting the country’s dynamic tourism and transport sectors.
International passenger traffic recorded an 11.2% rise, consolidating Morocco’s position as a key hub connecting Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
Domestic air traffic also continued to grow at a faster pace, posting a 15.8% increase, thanks to the expansion of internal flight routes and efforts to strengthen regional connectivity.
According to the DEPF, European destinations remained the primary driver of this upward trend, supported by increased flight frequencies and partnerships with low-cost carriers.
The report noted that passenger flows to the Middle East, North and South America, Africa, and Maghreb countries also contributed positively to overall growth.
This sustained momentum underscores the resilience of Morocco’s aviation sector, which continues to recover strongly from the global slowdown in air travel in previous years.
In addition to passenger activity, air freight traffic recorded an 8.6% increase by the end of August 2025, indicating a broader revival in logistics and trade flows.
The Ministry of Economy emphasized that these results highlight Morocco’s attractiveness as a regional air transport hub, supported by major infrastructure such as the Mohammed V, Marrakech-Menara, and Tangier Ibn Battuta airports.
