Morocco Showcases Financial Oversight Reforms at Global Audit Congress in Egypt

Morocco’s ongoing efforts to enhance financial oversight, promote transparency, and consolidate governance principles across public institutions were highlighted during the 25th Congress of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI), held this week in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.

The Kingdom’s participation in this high-level gathering underscored its commitment to modernizing its public auditing system and aligning it with international standards of accountability. The Congress, which brought together presidents and members of supreme audit institutions from around the world, as well as representatives of regional and international organizations, served as a platform to discuss new approaches to financial monitoring amid global crises and to explore the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the auditing process.

Speaking to MAP, Zineb El Adaoui, First President of Morocco’s Court of Auditors, stressed that Morocco’s presence — in its capacity as Secretary-General of the African Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (AFROSAI) — provided an opportunity to highlight the organization’s achievements and strategic vision since July 2025. These efforts, she noted, aim to strengthen institutional development and enhance the role of African audit bodies in ensuring good governance and transparency.

Morocco also presented a series of proposals focused on evaluating citizens’ trust in public institutions, improving the impact of audit work on infrastructure and public projects, and countering the misuse of AI in preparing audit reports. According to El Adaoui, such initiatives are essential to restoring confidence in public oversight systems and reinforcing the credibility of supervisory institutions across the African continent.

She further emphasized the importance of deepening cooperation between audit institutions, sharing best practices, and developing mechanisms for joint action to enhance institutional efficiency and accountability. Morocco’s participation, she concluded, reflects its proactive approach to advancing integrity, transparency, and innovation in public sector governance.
