Ghanaian Minister of Foreign Affairs Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa welcomed on Thursday the adoption of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2797 on the Sahara, describing it as a significant step toward a definitive and clearly structured solution to the issue.
Speaking in Rabat during talks with Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita—held on the sidelines of the Conference on the Demobilization, Disarmament, and Reintegration of Child Soldiers—Okudzeto Ablakwa highlighted the importance of the resolution adopted on October 31, 2025. He noted that the text lays out “clear parameters and a precise timeline” to advance toward a lasting settlement.
The Ghanaian Foreign Minister also commended the UN Security Council for what he described as strong leadership in addressing the Sahara question and steering efforts toward a structured, solution-oriented approach.
