Morocco is continuing its steady ascent in the global automotive industry, reinforcing its position as a leading manufacturing hub for both African and European markets, the Spanish economic daily El Economista reported on Monday.
According to the publication, the Kingdom is on track to reach a production volume close to one million vehicles this year, a milestone that would bring it closer to major European manufacturers while cementing its leadership on the continent.
This progress comes as Morocco ranks among the top five exporters of passenger cars to the European Union, with 194,667 units shipped during the first half of 2025, based on Eurostat figures cited by El Economista.
The newspaper attributes this performance to a rapidly expanding industrial ecosystem supported by the presence of major international equipment manufacturers and the continued rise of the automotive hubs in Tangier and Kenitra. With a production output of 560,000 vehicles in 2024, Morocco has already surpassed several European countries known for their long-standing industrial traditions.
El Economista also underscores the deepening industrial cooperation between Morocco and Spain, exemplified by Renault’s decision to assemble in Valladolid the batteries used in models manufactured in Morocco—an initiative that reflects the growing integration of value chains on both sides of the Strait of Gibraltar.
This trajectory, the paper concludes, confirms Morocco’s ambition to further consolidate its position in the global automotive sector by attracting new investment and actively embracing the major industrial transitions underway worldwide.
