RMC Sport Praises Morocco’s Organization of AFCON 2025, Calls It a Step Up in Standards

Morocco’s hosting of the first round of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) across six cities marks a “clear step up in the event’s standards,” according to French specialist broadcaster RMC Sport.

In a review published after the completion of the opening round, the channel highlighted several organizational strengths, including the modernity of the stadiums, the quality of the playing surfaces, smooth spectator access, and the efficiency of ticket and security checkpoint systems.

RMC Sport noted that television production at AFCON 2025 has reached a high level, comparable to major European tournaments. With around thirty cameras per stadium, the use of drones, and high-quality directing, the broadcaster said matches are being filmed “like a European Championship fixture.”

The channel placed particular emphasis on the condition of the pitches, describing them as one of the tournament’s main assets. Despite torrential rains affecting Morocco since the start of the competition, all playing surfaces were reported to be in perfect condition.

According to RMC Sport’s correspondents on site, several head coaches have praised the quality of the pitches, underlining their resilience and maintenance throughout the opening fixtures.

The report also highlighted the smooth flow of spectators entering stadiums, noting that access procedures were efficient and that external security checkpoints were operating properly for an event of this scale.

Beyond the stadiums, RMC Sport observed a calm and positive atmosphere in the host cities, stressing that coexistence among supporters from different countries was “perfect,” with no tensions recorded during the opening matches.

The broadcaster further pointed to the abundance of refreshment options inside stadiums, with prices described as very affordable for fans, while overall security across all venues was rated as “perfect.”

In this context, RMC Sport concluded that AFCON 2025 serves as a full-scale rehearsal for Morocco as it prepares to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup, showcasing the Kingdom’s organizational capabilities on the continental stage.
