Morocco, UK Reaffirm Commitment to Boost Agricultural Cooperation

Morocco and the United Kingdom on Friday reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening cooperation in the agricultural sector during a bilateral meeting held in Berlin on the sidelines of the International Green Week (Grüne Woche 2026), taking place from 16 to 25 January in the German capital.

The meeting brought together Morocco’s Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests, Ahmed El Bouari, and the UK Minister of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Angela Eagle. During the talks, Eagle expressed the United Kingdom’s ambition to further consolidate cooperation ties with Morocco.

Discussions focused on prospects for cooperation in the agricultural, agri-food, and rural sectors, with particular emphasis on food security, sustainable water resource management, and adaptation to climate change.

Within the framework of the Enhanced Strategic Partnership linking Rabat and London, the meeting also helped identify shared priorities, notably in scientific research, the exchange of best practices, as well as education and training.

The two sides further discussed bilateral cooperation in the water sector in Morocco, particularly projects related to wastewater treatment and desalination. Talks also addressed ways to strengthen access to the Moroccan market for British agricultural, food, and beverage exports.

Morocco is taking part in Grüne Woche for the 11th consecutive year, confirming its status as a regular participant in this major international event dedicated to the future of food and agriculture. The Kingdom has a dedicated pavilion where Moroccan cooperatives and producers are showcasing a wide range of local products.

Through this participation, Morocco aims to highlight on the international stage the richness and diversity of its agricultural offering and the added value of its local products.

Founded in 1926, Grüne Woche has, over the decades, established itself as the leading international trade fair devoted to food and agriculture, bringing together policymakers, professionals, and producers from around the world.
