Japan has pledged to donate $10 million to provide rapid humanitarian aid in food and medical care for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, the Kyodo news agency reported on Friday, citing the Foreign Minister, Toshimitsu Motegi.
The pledge comes after weeks of conflict between Hamas and Israel, which has left the Gaza Strip in ruins.
"The clash has caused a great deal of damage and we will address a variety of needs for support," Motegi was cited as saying. The United Nations is calling on the international community to raise a total of $95 million to help reconstruct Gaza.
