World Cup winner in 1966 and former Tottenham and England striker Jimmy Greaves has died at the age of 81, Spurs announced on Sunday. "We are extremely saddened to learn of the passing of the great Jimmy Greaves," the London-based club tweeted. "We extend our deepest condolences to Jimmy's family and friends."
Greaves, who suffered a stroke that forced him to use a wheelchair, died at his home, the club said on its website. He was the most prolific goalscorer in the history of England.
An all-round striker equally adept with either foot or his head, Greaves scored 266 goals in 379 appearances, according to the Club's Twitter account.
