The Moroccan health ministry announced Monday that the first case of new COVID-19 strain in the country discovered tonight 18 January in Tangier Med port in the north of Morocco.
According to a statement issued from the ministry, the carrier of the virus is a Moroccan citizen coming from Ireland through the French port of Marseille.
The virus carrier did not show any symptoms and he was taken to Casablanca to undergo quarantine, the statement said, adding that people who were in contact with him are also undergoing quarantine.
