Morocco received today, Friday, the first shipment of Covid-19 vaccine coming from India. The airplane which was carrying the vaccines landed at Casablanca Airport a few hours ago.
According to official data, through this shipment, Morocco acquired 2 million of Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine doses developed in India at the Serum Institute by UK-based drugmaker AstraZeneca and Oxford University.
The Royal Air Maroc aircraft had landed at Mumbai Airport on earl hours of Friday. Then it returned to Morocco after being loaded with the first shipment of Coronavirus vaccine.
Morocco and Brazil are the two first countries to receive the Oxford-Astarzeneca vaccine from India, as the Indian foreign secretary, Harsh Vardhan Shringla, told Reuters exclusively yesterday, adding that Saudi Arabia and South Africa would be the next countries to receive the vaccine.
The Local media in Morocco expect that a national campaign to vaccinate people in different regions would start in the coming days to begin vaccinating 25 million people, as the health ministry had said before.
Morocco has also recommended the chinses Siniform Vaccine and expected to be its first shipment from China. but there is a delivery delay from the Chinese side, and there is also ambiguity about the delivery's exact time.
