Leaders of states and governments participating in the extraordinary Arab-Islamic summit in Doha on Monday held Israel fully responsible for its attacks, stressing that the absence of international accountability and the silence of the global community have encouraged it to continue its policy of impunity and undermine the international order based on law.
The leaders strongly condemned the Israeli strike on a residential neighborhood in Doha on September 9, which left casualties including a Qatari national. They considered the attack a blatant violation of international law and a serious threat to international peace and security.
The final communiqué rejected any infringement on the sovereignty or security of any Arab or Islamic country, declaring unwavering solidarity with Qatar and support for all measures it may take to protect its sovereignty and security. It stressed that targeting Qatar undermines the mediation efforts it is undertaking in Gaza and jeopardizes peace initiatives.
The summit also called on the international community to condemn Israeli threats and take deterrent measures. It adopted a series of recommendations, most notably expediting the implementation of the Gaza reconstruction plan, considering the blockade and starvation imposed on Palestinians as war crimes, and warning against the consequences of any attempt to annex Palestinian territories.
The summit further commended the role of the Al-Quds Committee chaired by King Mohammed VI, the Hashemite custodianship of the holy sites in Jerusalem, as well as Qatar’s efforts in hosting and ensuring the success of the summit, and in reinforcing Arab-Islamic solidarity in the face of shared challenges.
