1 million doses: Morocco receives 8th batch of Covid-19 vaccine from China

Morocco received on Saturday the 8th batch of Coronavirus vaccine from China, composed of 1 million doses.

According to a source from Morocco’s health ministry, a Moroccan airplane landed on Saturday at Casablanca airport carrying 1 million doses of Sinopharm vaccine.

Sinopharm is currently the main supplier of Morocco from Covid-19 vaccine, with more than 8 million doses after the Serum Institute of India suspended delivering the AstraZeneca vaccine to Morocco due to the local need in India.

With this new shipment of vaccine Morocco will be able to vaccinate half a million of its citizens in the coming weeks which it will help the country to reach the ceiling of 10 million of fully vaccinated people soon.

According to the Ministry of Health on Saturday the number of Moroccan people who received the first dose of the vaccine reached 9,375,240 while those whom are fully vaccinated (1st and 2nd doses) amount to 8,118,241.

Morocco is still the most advanced country in Africa in terms of vaccinating people against Covid-19 and among the first countries in the world.
