Akhannouch represents Morocco's king in the inauguration ceremony of Nigeria's new president

Morocco’s Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, arrived in Abuja on Monday, to participate in the inauguration ceremony of the new president of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu, representing King Mohammed VI.

The ceremonial inauguration of Nigeria’s new president occurred today at Eagle Square in the capital Abuja before activities continued at the Presidential Palace. Heads of state and government representatives attended the event.

Morocco and Nigeria have had good relations in recent years, and both countries have signed several agreements to accomplish mega projects such as the Nigerian-Moroccan gas pipeline that would link 11 countries in the West of Africa.

Morocco has also invested in important projects in Nigeria like the fertilizer factory inaugurated by the Moroccan OCP company with the aim of helping Nigeria to develop its agriculture sector.

The bilateral cooperation between Rabat and Abuja has contributed to converging the political points of view between the two parties and helped Rabat specifically to isolate Nigeria from the supporters of the Polisario Front that fights Morocco over the Sahara.
