Arab Parliament calls on to end Spanish occupation to Ceuta, Melilla

The Arab Parliament announced yesterday in an emergency meeting held in Cairo, its support for the Kingdom of Morocco, against the European Parliament resolution that accused Morocco of using the issue of immigration as a means to blackmail Spain.

The Arab Parliament denounced the interference of the European Parliament and its insistence on getting involved in a bilateral crisis between the Kingdoms of Morocco and Spain, which can be resolved through diplomatic means and direct bilateral negotiations between the two countries.

A diplomatic crisis between Rabat and Madrid exploded in April after Spain had decided to receive the Polisario leader, Brahim Ghali, the enemy number 1 of Morocco, for what Spain described as “humanitarian reasons” as he was infected with Coronavirus.

During the ongoing crisis, thousands of Moroccan migrants and minors flow on Ceuta and entered the city without any objection from the Moroccan border forces, which pushed Spain to call on the European Union to intervene through the European Parliament who expressed on June 10, its rejection of what it described as Moroccan use of immigration to blackmail Spain.

In a response to the European Parliament resolution, the Arab Parliament held on June 26, an emergency meeting in Cairo, and expressed its categorical rejection of the European Parliament's resolution and announced its support of Morocco.

Moreover, the Arab Parliament considered that Ceuta and Melilla two Arab territories and called on to end the Spanish colonization in them as well as in Moroccan islands.
