Bourita Arrives in Baghdad to Represent King Mohammed VI at Arab Summit

Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita arrived in Baghdad on Friday to represent King Mohammed VI at the 34th Ordinary Session of the Arab League Summit, scheduled to be held in the Iraqi capital on Saturday, May 17, 2025. He will also participate in the Economic and Development Summit.

It is worth noting that Iraqi President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid had extended an invitation to King Mohammed VI to attend the upcoming Arab Summit in Baghdad through his special envoy, Mohammed Ali Tamim.

In this context, Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita received Mohammed Ali Tamim, Iraq’s Deputy Prime Minister and special envoy of President Abdul Latif Rashid, on April 30 in Rabat. The meeting aimed to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to deepen cooperation in various sectors. The Moroccan side reaffirmed its firm support for Iraq’s unity and stability, while the Iraqi side expressed appreciation for Morocco’s international standing and its desire to strengthen the partnership between the two nations.

The Iraqi envoy also delivered an official invitation to King Mohammed VI to attend the upcoming Arab Summit in Baghdad, reflecting a shared commitment to boosting Arab solidarity and addressing regional challenges.

This meeting further underscored the depth of Moroccan-Iraqi relations and the two countries’ common vision to enhance joint Arab cooperation.
