Coronavirus postpones official visits between Morocco, Israel

The Coronavirus has caused the postponement of the exchange of official visits between Morocco and Israel in the current month of February.

The Foreign Ministry of Morocco announced at the beginning of this month that a High-Level Moroccan delegation would visit Israel to complete the normalization agreement measures which had been signed between the two parties last December.

The same source added that an Israeli delegation led by national security adviser, Meir Ben Shabbat, will visit Morocco in late February, but none of the visits have occurred.

According to Israeli media, the Coronavirus repercussions and the measures taken to fight it, whether in Israel or other countries, is the reason behind canceling and postponing the official visits.

The sources pointed out that the Israel Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, had intended to visit Bahrain, but the pandemic conditions stopped the visit.

In Morocco, also another significant meeting was going to take place in February, but it was also postponed. The concerning meeting is the high-level meeting between Morocco’s government and its Spanish counterpart.
