Covid-19: Morocco extends state of health emergency by additional month

Morocco has decided to extend the state of health emergency across the national territory by an additional month to curb the spread of the pandemic of Covid-19.

Morocco’s government Council, held Thursday in Rabat, and decided to the extension from Monday, Mai 10, 2021 until Thursday, June 10, 2021.

Although the pandemic situation in the country is still under control, (less than 5 thousand active cases of Coronavirus), but the threat of Covid-19 variants pushes Morocco to keep vigilant.

In meantime, Morocco is still fighting the pandemic through its constant vaccination campaign, with more than 5 million people have received the first dose of the vaccine, while more that 4 million and 300 thousand received the second dose.

Morocco is still the African leading nation in terms of vaccination, in which it is the only nation to exceed 1 million people who received the vaccine.

In addition to that, Morocco was the first African country to launch the vaccination campaign against Covid-19, that was on Jan. 28, 2021.
