Fischer praises recent decisions taken by Morocco, US for peace and prosperity

The recent decisions taken by Morocco and the United States are the best way forward towards the consolidation of peace and prosperity in the region, said US Ambassador to Morocco David Fischer in Rabat on Wednesday.
"We have been clear about our belief that this is the right way forward," Fischer said to MAP, referring to the recent US decision to recognize Morocco's full sovereignty over the Sahara.
"We are very proud of the decisions that the United States and Morocco have taken together to build peace and prosperity in the region," the diplomat said following talks with the president of the National Museum Foundation, Mehdi Qotbi.

The US Ambassador said that the two parties discussed on this occasion several issues related to culture and art, as well as the possibility of holding "a Moroccan exhibition in the United States and perhaps in other parts of the world." This exhibition will highlight friendship between the Moroccan and American peoples through "a better knowledge of our history and living together" which have always marked Moroccan society, Qotbi pointed out.

"Culture is the best way to understand and know each other," Qotbi said. Regarding the United States' recognition of the Moroccanness of the Sahara, Qotbi noted that "all Moroccans, without exception, are grateful to the US" following this decision.

Qotbi underlined on this occasion the cultural diplomacy initiated by King Mohammed VI to consolidate the relations of the Kingdom with other countries.

Qotbi announced that the Foundation is preparing to open, in the next two months, a music museum in Meknes and the Villa Harris in Tangier. The National Museum Foundation is also working to open museums in the southern provinces of Morocco, he announced.
