Hammouchi Leads Security Delegation to Ankara to Boost Morocco–Turkey Cooperation

Morocco’s Director General of National Police and Domestic Intelligence (DGSN-DGST), Abdellatif Hammouchi, is on a working visit to Ankara at the head of a senior security delegation, as part of his participation in the Internal Security Equipment Exhibition “IGEF 2025,” held from September 18 to 20.

According to a statement by the DGSN-DGST, the visit came at the official invitation of Turkish authorities and featured a high-level meeting between Hammouchi and Mahmut Demirtaş, Director General of the Turkish National Police.

The two officials reviewed current and future prospects for bilateral security cooperation, stressing the importance of joint efforts to ensure safety, strengthen stability, and address shared security risks. Discussions also touched on the threats posed by illegal immigration and its links to organized crime networks, as well as the development of police training methods and investment in human resources.

Talks further explored avenues of cooperation to support Morocco’s organization of major international events, including the 93rd INTERPOL General Assembly scheduled in Marrakech in November 2025, the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, and the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which Morocco will co-host with Spain and Portugal.

The meeting reflected a strong alignment of views and a shared commitment to deepening security ties between Rabat and Ankara, with both sides agreeing to expand exchanges of expertise across multiple fields.

On the sidelines of the exhibition, Hammouchi also held bilateral talks with the heads of delegations from Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Malaysia, focusing on ways to elevate cooperation with Morocco to higher levels of police partnership, while tackling shared threats and challenges.

The Moroccan delegation also toured the various sections of the IGEF 2025 International Exhibition, which showcased the latest innovations in internal security, defense, and global policing technologies. The delegation reviewed cutting-edge equipment designed to strengthen security systems and enhance their effectiveness in combating emerging criminal threats.

The DGSN-DGST underlined that the visit highlights once again the growing importance of developing international security cooperation and consolidating bilateral and multilateral partnerships in the policing field, seen as vital in countering the global expansion of terrorism and transnational organized crime.
