The General Directorate of Meteorology has issued an updated orange-level weather alert, warning of heavy snowfall (5 to 40 cm), occasional thunderstorms with local hail (20-90 mm), and strong wind gusts (70-85 km/h) expected across various regions of Morocco today, Sunday, and tomorrow, Monday.
According to the alert, snowfall ranging between 20 and 40 cm will affect the provinces of Ifrane, Azilal, Beni Mellal, Taza, and Midelt, while snowfall of 5 to 10 cm is expected in Guercif, Boulemane, Sefrou, Al Hoceima, Chefchaouen, Khenifra, Al Haouz, Ouarzazate, Tinghir, Chichaoua, and Taroudant. These conditions will persist from noon on Sunday until 11 p.m. on Monday.
Additionally, heavy rainfall, sometimes accompanied by thunderstorms and hail, is forecasted to reach 60-90 mm in Tangier-Asilah, Fahs-Anjra, M’diq-Fnideq, Chefchaouen, Tetouan, Taounate, Taza, Ouazzane, Larache, and Al Hoceima from noon on Sunday until 6 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, rainfall between 30 and 50 mm is expected in Ifrane, Beni Mellal, Azilal, and Khenifra from midnight to 3 p.m. on Monday.
Other regions, including Kenitra, Safi, El Jadida, Khemisset, Khouribga, Rabat, Salé, Temara-Skhirat, Mediouna, Casablanca, Berrechid, Benslimane, Nouaceur, Mohammedia, and Sidi Bennour, will experience rainfall between 20 and 30 mm from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Sunday.
The same alert warns of strong wind gusts (70-85 km/h) expected on Sunday from noon to 11 p.m. in Chefchaouen, Al Hoceima, Fahs-Anjra, Tangier-Asilah, Tetouan, M’diq-Fnideq, Ifrane, Boulemane, El Hajeb, Taza, Meknes, Fez, Kenitra, Khemisset, Rabat, Temara-Skhirat, Salé, Benslimane, Mediouna, Sidi Bennour, Sefrou, El Jadida, Berrechid, Mohammedia, Nouaceur, Casablanca, Safi, Midelt, and Ouarzazate.
Similar wind conditions are also expected on Monday from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. in Chefchaouen, Al Hoceima, Tetouan, Boulemane, Midelt, and Figuig.
