The Moroccan Ambassador to the UN, Omar Hilale, has confirmed in a televised interview with Al-Hurra TV that the problem of the crossing border point, Guerguerat, in the south of Morocco, is ended.
Hilale has said that the Moroccan army has extended the defensive line beyond the security wall and closed all the gaps in order to end all provocative and terrorist acts.
Morocco’s permanent representative to the United Nations has warned that any transgressions in the region will be faced strongly by Moroccan forces, referring to Polisario separatists elements and Algeria.
In late 2020 some Pro-Polisario came to the Guerguarat and cut the road traffic for a week. Morocco sent its army to end this situation and deployed its forces to stop any other future attempt to cut the road traffic. From that point, Polisario claimed that Morocco violated the cease-fire agreement of 1991 and announced its return to the armed action against Morocco.
Although that POLISARIO still promotes fake news claiming that the war is going on, the facts from the region tell that the Moroccan army has controlled the area and ended all the skirmishes.
The Guergurat crossing border point is be considered essential for goods transportation between Morocco and West African countries.
