Israeli minister: Tel Aviv will soon declare its position on Moroccan Sahara

The Israeli Minister of Transport and Road Safety, Miri Regev, told on Monday the i24news channel that Tel Aviv attaches great importance to the relations with Rabat, noting that Israel would soon declare its position on the Moroccan Sahara.

The Israeli minister who landed in Morocco to sign several agreements with its Moroccan counterpart, added in her interview with the Israeli channel mentioned above, that Israel understands the issue of the Sahara for Moroccans.

Regev did not point out in the interview whether Israel would take a similar stance as the United States which had announced its recognition of the Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara or it would just support the Moroccan autonomy plan to end the conflict as Spain had done.

Diplomatic sources had previously revealed to Assahifa that Israel intends to announce its recognition of the Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara in order to push Rabat to open its embassy in Tel Aviv and open the Israeli embassy in Morocco, but Rabat decided to delay this step to the time it sees suitable.
