Morocco’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that King Mohammed VI, in his capacity as Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, has received an invitation from U.S. President Donald Trump to join, as a founding member, a newly proposed “Peace Council,” an initiative aimed at contributing to peace efforts in the Middle East and adopting a new approach to resolving international conflicts.
According to the official statement, membership in the Peace Council will be limited to a select group of prominent international leaders actively engaged in promoting global peace and stability. The invitation was described as recognition of the Moroccan monarch’s role in advancing peace and of his standing on the international stage.
The statement added that King Mohammed VI welcomed the invitation, commending President Trump’s vision and commitment to supporting peace efforts. It noted that the Kingdom of Morocco will proceed with ratifying the founding charter of the Peace Council, which will be established legally as an international organization.
The Ministry explained that the Peace Council aims to support stability, good governance, and the achievement of sustainable peace in conflict-affected regions through practical cooperation and results-oriented partnerships. Participation in the council, the statement stressed, will be exclusively by invitation from the President of the United States.
In this context, Morocco reaffirmed its continued support for a just and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue, based on the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, living side by side with Israel in peace.
The statement concluded by underscoring Morocco’s consistent commitment, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, to initiatives that promote dialogue, stability, and peaceful coexistence at both the regional and international levels.
