Marlaska: Morocco Holds 'Great Experience' in Hosting Major Events

Morocco has “great experience” in organizing major events, Spanish Minister of the Interior Fernando Grande-Marlaska said on Tuesday in Marrakech.

In a statement to the press following his meeting with Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit on the sidelines of the 4th Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety, Grande-Marlaska expressed gratitude to “HM King Mohammed VI and the Kingdom of Morocco for organizing this event”.

The Spanish minister expressed his confidence that the FIFA World Cup 2030, which will be jointly hosted by Morocco, Spain and Portugal, will be a resounding success in terms of safety, thanks to the proven experience of the three countries in organizing large-scale events.

Grande-Marlaska also stressed the importance of meeting the challenge of road safety and safe mobility, calling for public spaces to be designed so as to guarantee mobility adapted to the needs of citizens.

He also emphasized the role of new technologies in improving road user safety, noting that accident victims must be the priority of public road safety policies.

Recalling that road safety is a commitment undertaken by several international organizations, notably the United Nations and the World Health Organization, the Spanish official stressed the importance of education and awareness-raising in reducing the rate of road accident victims.

Placed under the patronage of King Mohammed VI, the 4th Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety is initiated by Morocco's Ministry of Transport and Logistics in cooperation with the World Health Organization.

Organized under the theme “Commit to Life”, this international event brings together official delegations led by over 100 ministers responsible for transport, the interior, infrastructure and health.
