Hundreds of thousands of Moroccans gathered early this Sunday morning in the capital, Rabat, for a massive rally in support of the Palestinian cause and against the Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip. The demonstration took place amid hopes for an imminent end to the suffering of Gaza’s residents, following former President Donald Trump’s announcement of a proposal to end the war, which Hamas has approved.
Participants in the rally demanded an immediate halt to the Israeli aggression against Gaza’s civilians, denouncing the killings and starvation faced by civilians in the besieged territory. They also expressed outrage at the international community’s silence and called for urgent intervention to end the humanitarian crisis.
The rally was organized by the Moroccan Front for Supporting Palestine and included participation from numerous civil organizations, associations, and political parties, reflecting Morocco’s national solidarity with the Palestinian cause. Demonstrators waved Palestinian flags and banners bearing slogans supporting Palestinian rights and calling for an end to Israeli attacks.
The rally coincides with the two-year anniversary of the clashes between Hamas and Israeli forces, which resulted in tens of thousands of casualties in Gaza due to sustained Israeli bombardment.
This demonstration is among dozens of large-scale protests held in Rabat, which has been one of the Arab capitals most actively hosting marches in solidarity with Palestinians and condemning Israeli aggression on Gaza’s residents.
The rally also comes amid U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement of a comprehensive plan to end the war in Gaza, which includes 20 main points aimed at achieving an immediate ceasefire, releasing prisoners, gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces, disarming Hamas, and forming a Palestinian transitional government under international supervision.
On Saturday, Israel announced its approval of the “initial withdrawal line” from Gaza, as a preliminary step toward implementing the plan. In response, Hamas welcomed the proposal, expressing readiness to release hostages, though it has not yet confirmed agreement to disarm.
President Trump warned Hamas against any delays in implementing the plan, emphasizing that he would not tolerate slow action and stating that “the consequences cannot be predicted” if progress is not swift.
Negotiations are currently ongoing in Egypt among the concerned parties, focusing on the details of implementing the plan, which enjoys broad international support.
Demonstrators in Rabat emphasized that their rally reflects the Moroccan people’s unwavering solidarity with Palestinians and the urgent need to end the suffering in Gaza.
The participants also condemned the ongoing blockade and restrictions on Gaza, viewing these measures as serious violations of human rights.
Organizers noted that the rally forms part of a continuing series of public actions aimed at raising awareness of the Palestinian plight and mobilizing popular support for international pressure on Israel.
Civilians of all ages and social backgrounds participated in the march, underscoring the unity of Moroccan society in supporting Palestinian rights.
The rally concluded with chants supporting Palestine and demanding an immediate halt to the Israeli aggression, reflecting the deep commitment of the Moroccan people to the Palestinian cause and their hopes for an end to Gaza’s humanitarian suffering.
