Morocco and India Sign Defense MoU to Boost Military, Cybersecurity, and Industrial Cooperation

Morocco and India today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the field of defense, covering areas such as military training and education, defense industry, cyber security and defense, military health, as well as the exchange of expertise and experiences.

The agreement was concluded during the working visit of India’s Defence Minister, Shri Rajnath Singh, to Morocco, where he was received at the headquarters of the Administration of National Defence by Abdeltif Loudyi, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of the Administration of National Defence.

The MoU aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries and establish a joint mechanism to monitor and coordinate cooperation activities in the agreed areas. The signing ceremony was attended by senior military officials, including General Mohamed Berrid, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces and Commander of the Southern Zone, and General Mohamed Haramou, Commander of the Royal Gendarmerie.

During the meeting, the two ministers reviewed the historic ties of friendship between Morocco and India, which received fresh momentum following King Mohammed VI’s visit to India in 2015 and his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. They also exchanged views on bilateral and regional issues, as well as ways to advance the defense industry.

Both officials stressed the importance of strategic partnerships and South-South cooperation in supporting development and security in the region, reaffirming their commitment to implementing the MoU as a means to deepen friendship and trust between the two countries.
